Terms of Use
Last updated: 24 October 2026 · version 2026-10-24
These terms cover your use of flipkitchen.ca, the Flip Kitchen AI designer and the FlipKitchen app ("the Service"), operated from Canada. They apply to everyone who visits or uses any part of the Service — every page, file and feature, whether or not you sign in — and to any program, crawler or AI agent acting for you. By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these terms, and they form a binding agreement between you and us. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
Flip Kitchen AI is a free design tool. Designing costs nothing and always will: lay a kitchen out in 2D, walk it in 3D, change doors, counters and appliances, and render it. That is the Service, and every account gets all of it without paying.
Paying improves the experience rather than unlocking the tool — higher-grade rendering and image processing, and more room to work. Section 6 sets out what the paid options are and how they work.
Designing is not pricing, and it is not building. The figures the Service can show you are an aid to designing, not a quotation; and nothing here orders, supplies or installs anything. Pricing that you can rely on, and actually getting a kitchen built, are separate from the design tool and go through us or a dealer — see sections 5 and 6. The Service itself is a planning aid, not a construction document and not professional design, engineering or contracting advice.
Measure before you buy. Layouts, dimensions, elevations and quantities produced by the Service are estimates based on what you entered. Before ordering cabinets or starting work, have measurements verified on site by a qualified installer. We are not responsible for material ordered against an unverified plan.
2. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service, including the FlipKitchen app for iPhone and iPad. By creating an account, continuing as a guest or using the app, you confirm that you are 18 or older.
The design tool and Emma, our assistant, require a free account — sign in with Google, or with Apple in the app, or continue as a guest. A guest account lives on the device that created it, is deleted 7 days after its last visit, can keep at most 2 saved designs, and cannot buy coins, publish to the community or message other members; whoever holds the device holds the guest. Signing in from a guest session keeps its designs and turns it into your account. The rest of the site (home page, guides, Learn and Spotlight articles, showroom) stays open to read with no account. Keep your Google or Apple account secure; activity under your sign-in is treated as yours. We may suspend an account that is being used to abuse the Service.
The first time you sign in, you are shown a summary of these terms and the Privacy Policy and asked to accept before you start. We ask once: later revisions do not interrupt you to ask again. We record which version you accepted and when — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that record contains and how long it lives. If you would rather not accept, sign out; nothing else happens, and the open parts of the site stay open to you.
3. Your designs and content
You keep ownership of what you create. Your kitchen designs, the photos you upload, your notes and your messages remain yours. Saved designs are private to your account — we do not publish them or show them to other users, except the people you choose to bring into a design (people you invite, a designer or installer you hire through our Community) and everyone, if you publish a design to the gallery yourself. Flip Kitchen sales staff can also open any design, to help with it. People the design's owner adds to its chat in Messages see the design's name and picture there, but that gives them no access to the design itself. When several people work on one design, what they write in its comments stays with that design (as does its chat from before 16 October 2026), while what they say to each other in Messages stays in those conversations — except the design's own chat, which is deleted, for everyone in it, when the design is deleted; see the Privacy Policy.
You grant us only the permission needed to operate the Service: to store your design, process it, transmit the parts required to generate a render or a quote, and show it back to you across your devices.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload images or content you do not have permission to use.
4. Renders and sharing them with us
Generating a render sends a screenshot of your 3D design and its settings to an AI image provider — that is how the image gets made.
Separately, we ask whether we may keep a copy of your renders to review and improve image quality. This is optional and off unless you turn it on. The current state is shown under the render and you can change it at any time; turning it off stops any further renders being kept. If you turn it on, you give Flip Kitchen permission to store and internally review those renders and their design settings for the purpose of improving the Service. We will not publish them, sell them, show them to other users, or use them to train third-party AI models. You can ask us to delete your archived renders at any time — see the Privacy Policy.
AI-generated images are interpretations, not photographs of a real product. Finishes, hardware, proportions and lighting in a render may differ from what gets built.
5. Quotes, pricing and getting it built
Pricing is not part of the free design tool. Any figure the Service shows you is an indicative estimate for cabinetry, worked out from the SKUs in your design against current list pricing, and it exists to help you design — to tell you that one layout costs more than another. It is not a quotation and not an offer. It may exclude delivery, installation, countertops, appliances, taxes, modifications and site conditions.
What that figure covers also depends on the catalogue your account can reach, so the same layout can come out differently on different accounts. Neither number is binding. A price you can rely on comes only from a written quote issued by us or by a dealer after a person has reviewed the design.
The same goes for building it. Ordering, supply, delivery, fitting and after-sales are a separate commercial arrangement with us or with a dealer, on its own terms. Nothing you do inside the Service orders anything or commits either of us to a contract to supply.
6. Paid features, Pro membership and GH Coin
Designing is free, so nothing below is required to use the Service. What can be bought changes the experience rather than the access:
- Pro membership (“Pro”) — a recurring monthly
subscription. While it is running, it gives you:
- 30 GH Coins in each billing month. The billing month follows the day you subscribed rather than the 1st, and the coins are credited the first time you use the Service in that cycle — an unused month is not banked and does not pay out twice.
- Unlimited AI Design automatic-layout runs, in place of the few free runs a day every account gets.
- Unlimited standard 3D renders, in place of the few free ones a day every account gets before each render costs a coin.
- The itemised list of everything placed in the design, in the 2D top view.
- Your own logo and company details on the quotes you share and on your renders, in place of ours — set them up free at any time, but they only come out on your work while a membership is running.
- GH Coin — prepaid credit for the features that cost us real computing time, chiefly high-grade rendering and AI image work. Coin is spent when you use those features and has no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and does not expire while your account exists.
- Studio — a further tier for trade accounts, adding a 3D showroom of your own with a public link to it. It is open to accounts we have verified as Designer, and it is paid in GH Coin for each 30-day period rather than as a card subscription. Let a period lapse and the public side simply closes; what you put in it is kept.
Designer itself is not sold: it is a status we grant to trade accounts we have checked ourselves. Ask us if you think it should apply to you.
Buying and renewing. Purchases on the website go through PayPal; purchases inside the iOS and Mac app go through Apple, and Apple's own terms govern those. A Pro membership renews automatically until you cancel it, at the price shown when you bought it. We will tell you before a price change takes effect on your subscription.
Cancelling. Cancel any time — with PayPal from your PayPal account, in the app through Apple's subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and you keep Pro and anything already credited until that period runs out.
Refunds. Purchases made through Apple are refunded by Apple, not by us. For anything bought on the website, contact us — if a charge was a mistake, or a feature you paid for did not work, we will put it right. Coin that has already been spent on renders we produced is not refundable, because the work was done.
If a paid feature goes away. Features can change (section 9). If we withdraw something you are paying for, we will either replace it with something equivalent or refund the unused part of what you paid for it.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to break, overload, probe or circumvent the Service, its access controls or its rate limits.
- Do not use automated means to bulk-generate renders or other AI output.
- Do not collect, copy or reuse the Service's content or data, by any means, except as section 8 allows.
- Do not upload unlawful, infringing, hateful or harassing content, or anyone else's personal information.
- Do not misrepresent Flip Kitchen quotes or renders as approved construction documents.
- Community posts must stay on topic and civil; we may remove content and revoke access.
- Do not record a voice call — in a design, or one-to-one in Messages — or pass on what other people said in it, without the consent of everyone on the call.
- Zero tolerance. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users — in messages, community posts, names and anything else other people can see. Report anything that crosses the line with Report in a conversation's menu — Report conversation in our iPhone and iPad app, Report… in the ⋮ menu of the designer's Chats panel, or 🚩 at the top of a chat in Community → Messages — or by email to info@flipkitchen.ca with who sent it and what was said (for a comment in a design, add the design's name), or by messaging FlipKitchen Support at the top of Contacts; we review every report within 24 hours, remove content that breaks these rules, and suspend the account that posted it — a suspended account cannot message or call anyone, invite anyone or post until the suspension ends. The owner of a group — for a design's own chat, the design's owner — can also remove someone from it, with ⋮ → Members → Remove in the designer's Chats panel.
- Blocking. One-to-one chats are between people who have each other in their contacts. Take someone out of your contacts — Block in our app does this and leaves the conversation — and until you are contacts again neither of you can message or call the other one-to-one, add the other to a group, or invite the other into a design. Groups you are both already in stay as they are; leave them if you want to.
8. Our content and data
Everything the Service shows or serves — its software and code, 3D models, textures and images, the cabinet and product catalogue with its SKUs, dimensions, prices and pricing rules, the door, countertop and floor colour libraries, layouts, sample renders, guides, Learn and Spotlight articles, videos, text, page design and branding, and any collection or database of these ("our content") — is owned by Flip Kitchen or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and other laws.
What you may do
- Use the Service as it is offered: design, visualise and price kitchens — your own, or your clients' if you work in the trade — and use its free tools.
- Share your own outputs (designs, renders, quotes) freely, including commercially, using the features the Service provides. They remain yours (section 3).
- View, print or save individual pages for your own reference.
- Link to the public pages of the site. We may ask you to remove a link, and you agree to remove it.
What you may not do
Beyond that, our content is for use inside the Service only, and any other use of it, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, is prohibited. In particular, you may not:
- use our content for any commercial purpose outside the Service — for example reselling or republishing it, or using it to build or improve a catalogue, price list, product database, comparison or listing service, design tool, or any other product or service;
- carry out "screen scraping", "web scraping", "data scraping" or "database scraping", or any other activity intended to collect, copy, store, index, reorganise or manipulate our content or any data that appears on or is served by the Service — whether by crawler, script, headless browser, AI agent or by hand;
- modify or alter our content in any respect, or publish it in any form, other than the designs you make inside the Service and the outputs you share as allowed above;
- merge, combine or aggregate our content with any other data, database or service;
- show our content in a frame, mirror it, or display it in any way other than how it appears when you open the page yourself, except through the sharing and embed features we provide;
- use our content to develop, train, fine-tune, evaluate or ground any software, model, algorithm or artificial intelligence system;
- get around anything that limits access to our content, such as sign-in, rate limits or bot protection, or call our APIs or fetch our files other than through the Service's own pages and apps;
- operate the Service — the 2D / 3D designer, the 3D showroom and tours, or the Learn videos — with an AI agent, browser automation, a script or a bot, including an AI assistant built into your browser. These parts of the Service are for people to use themselves.
Search engines and link previews
Search engines, including the search features of AI assistants, may crawl the public pages that our robots.txt allows, solely to index them and show them in results that link back to the page. Apps that show a preview when someone shares a link to one of our pages may fetch that page to build the preview. Those are the only exceptions to this section. robots.txt tells crawlers where they may go; it does not license any other use of what they find there.
No AI training or text and data mining
We expressly reserve all
rights to use the Service's content — including its pages, articles, guides, images,
renders, 3D models, catalogue data and code — for text and data mining, and for
training, fine-tuning, evaluating or grounding machine learning or generative AI
systems. No such use is permitted without our prior written licence. This is an
express reservation of rights for the purposes of applicable text-and-data-mining
exceptions, including Article 4(3) of EU Directive 2019/790. The directives we serve
in robots.txt and in the X-Robots-Tag response
header (noimageai) are machine-readable expressions of this same
reservation, and ignoring them does not make the use permitted.
If this section is broken
We may block access — automatically, as soon as our systems detect it, for the network, the browser and the account involved — suspend or close the account, and take legal action, including seeking an injunction and damages. When access is blocked automatically, the page says so and gives a code; if you think it is a mistake, email info@flipkitchen.ca with that code. You are responsible for the loss your breach causes us, including reasonable legal costs.
9. Availability
The Service is provided as-is. Features can change or be withdrawn, AI providers can be slow or unavailable, and we do not promise uninterrupted service or that any particular render will succeed. We do keep backups, but you should export or download anything you cannot afford to lose.
End-to-end encrypted Messages — a beta feature
Messages between members on the website in Google Chrome are end-to-end encrypted: they are locked on your device and only the devices of the people in the conversation can unlock them. Our iPhone and iPad app gets the same encryption in an app update that is still to come; until then, messages sent from the app are not encrypted. This feature is in a testing (beta) stage. It has not been reviewed by an independent security auditor, it may have faults, and we may change how it works. Please do not rely on it for anything you could not afford to have exposed. Other browsers are not supported for Messages.
- The keys live only on your devices. Encrypted messages, photos, files and voice messages stay on our servers for 30 days and are then deleted; after that they exist only on the devices that received them. If you lose or reset all of your devices, we cannot recover your encrypted messages.
- A new device only sees messages sent after it was added, and someone who joins a group — including a design's own chat — does not see the encrypted messages sent before they joined.
- Messages you send to Emma — a one-to-one chat with her, an @Emma message in a group, and a message you choose to quote in it — are also locked to Emma, so our servers can read them in order to answer. Emma cannot read any other message in a group.
- A conversation opened through a quote request is not encrypted until you engage, because contact details are checked on that line.
- If someone in a conversation has not yet opened chat in Chrome or in the updated app, that conversation is not encrypted and says so at the top: text and voice messages still go through, unencrypted, and photos and files cannot be sent. A design's own chat is the exception: it is always encrypted, and someone in it who has not yet opened chat in Chrome or the updated app only sees the messages sent after they do.
- The lines our system adds to a conversation — an invitation into a design, and the record of a voice call (only its length and outcome) — are not encrypted.
- Voice calls in a design are not part of this: they are encrypted, but not end-to-end encrypted. A one-to-one call is end-to-end encrypted only when both devices sign and check its set-up — Chrome with encrypted chat set up, or our app after an update that is still to come — and the call shows when that check passed (see “Voice calls” in the Privacy Policy).
10. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for costs arising from material ordered, work performed, or decisions made on the basis of a design, render or estimate produced by the Service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including under consumer protection legislation.
11. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute about the Service or the use of its content, are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and disputes belong to the courts of that province, without limiting any mandatory rights you have where you live.
12. Changes
We may update these terms; the date and version above will change, and the version on this page is always the one in force. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept it.
13. General
If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
14. Contact
